Hour 2

With summer approaching and gas prices averaging around $4 a gallon, a lot of families are rethinking the long vacation road trip or one that involves expensive airfare. So how about taking a few smaller trips with the kids closer to home?  Today we’re highlighting some great getaways for families in our region, both tried-and-true destinations and off-beat attractions. Guest host Maiken Scott gets recommendations on day trips from Delaware travel writer MARA GORMAN, who blogs at “The Mother of All Trips”; New Jersey travel writer JEN MILLER, author of “Explorer’s Guide: The Jersey Shore: Atlantic City to Cape May;” and blogger at “Down the Shore”; and Pennsylvania travel writer CHRISTINE O’TOOLE,  author of “Pennsylvania: Off the Beaten Path” and “Fun with the Family: Pennsylvania.”
