Future of water
The work never ends when it comes to cleaning up our streams and water supplies. But because change comes so slowly, most of us won’t reap the benefits in our lifetime. We look to the future in this week’s First Look, focusing on the next generation of water stewards who will continue the legacy of clean water.

Bike Bridge
A long planned bike trail extending from the Wilmington riverfront is becoming a reality. It’s all part of the state’s continuing efforts to get drivers out from behind the wheel and start walking and biking to their destination.

Planetarium
A re-born planetarium was unveiled last week at McCullough middle school after being dormant for a decade and getting a major high-tech overhaul. It’s all part of Colonial School District’s plan to guide kids toward an academic pathway before they hit high school.

Biden at UD
Delaware’s favorite son and former Vice President, Joe Biden had a busy week. Monday he awarded the liberty medal to U.S. Senator John McCain in Philadelphia. Tuesday he was at his Biden institute at the University of Delaware explaining how republicans and democrats could actually talk issues. Here’s an exchange about the state of elections today in his conversation with Ohio governor John Kasich.

Jason Levine
In 2016 WHYY and the News Journal teamed up in a series of mayoral debates. Jason Levine was part of the editorial team. Jason passed away last week. We here at First offer a tribute to him from a 2016 interview we did on the state of the mayoral contest at the time.

First Person: Trinidad Navarro
27-thousand Delawareans get their health insurance through the Affordable Care Act. Now that President Trump has signed an order cutting subsidies to insurance companies there are a lot of questions on what that means. Trinidad Navarro is Delaware’s Insurance Commissioner. He is our First Person this week.

First Experience: Stewart Paul
Stewart Paul is a woodworker, but to make a living he turned to the home improvement industry. Now retired, he has returned to his love of woodworking. First experience is in Milford this week.
