No-kill Delaware

Delaware is in the process of setting up a state-funded Office of Animal Welfare. Some believe this is the next step towards becoming a no-kill state, but others argue Delaware still has a long way to go.

We are looking at a program called “Specialisterne” or the specialist. It came to Delaware from Denmark. The goal is to hone in on the special skills and talents of people on the autism spectrum, and utilize their talents in the tech and date industry.

First Experience: The First State Force Band

Formed in 1988 with members of law enforcement, fire, and EMT departments around Delaware, they are the First State Force Band. They travel around Delaware bringing a positive message to kids through music. They really do get the kids moving, it also lets the kids know that behind those badges are people just willing to help. First Experience listened in on a concert at the Warner Elementary School in Wilmington.
