How well do you trust your doctor? In a recent survey, a number of physicians admitted to bending the truth and even lying to patients, whether it’s presenting a prognosis more optimistically, hiding a medical mistake or failing to disclose their ties to drug companies.  But what does all this mean for the doctor-patient relationship and do we really expect transparency in health care? This hour, we’re going to examine the evolving relationship between patient and physician and some of the complicated ethical issues that arise. We’ve invited two bioethicists to join us.  ARTHUR CAPLAN is a professor of medical ethics and health policy at the University of Pennsylvania.  JASON KARLAWAISH is a professor of medicine and medical ethics at the University of Pennsylvania and the author of a new novel, “Open Wound: The Tragic Obsession of Dr. William Beaumont.
