Conversation with local child advocates Shelly Yanoff and Joe Carruth
ListenHour 2
After 25 years as the executive director of Public Citizens for Children and Youth, SHELLY YANOFF is stepping down. Since the 1980s she has worked tirelessly to increase funding, change policy and improve programming in child health, child welfare and public education. She has been fierce advocate for early childhood education, homeless and neglected children, and anti-violence efforts. She joins us in this hour of Radio Times to talk about her career, her successes and the work yet to be done. Then, educator JOSEPH CARRUTH will be returning to the Camden public schools this summer. He was fired in 2006 after he blew the whistle on a test-cheating scheme at Charles E. Brimm Medical Arts High School. Marty talks to him about his work as an educator and what he hopes to accomplish in the years ahead.
