Anti-violence strategies that work

    Listen 00:48:46

Guests: Scott Thomson, Marla Davis Bellamy and Colwin Williams

Recent gun violence had prompted a national debate about new gun laws but there are already anti-violence solutions in action that work. On-the-street interventions don’t require passing new laws, but many in the crime fighting community believe they can still be quite effective. We’ll talk about anti-violence strategies that are working. Camden Police Chief SCOTT THOMSON will give us details about how ‘Project Guardian,’ which was inspired by the national Focused Deterrence strategy, is intervening early in the lives of young people in Camden. And we’ll be joined in-studio by MARLA DAVIS BELLAMY, Director for the Philadelphia CeaseFire program based at the Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and COLWIN WILLIAMS, who is putting the Ceasefire program into action on the streets of North Philadelphia.
