Americans and religion

Listen 00:48:44

Guests: Gregory Smith and Stephen Prothero

Americans are becoming less religious. That’s what a new Pew Research Center report says. The number of Americans who believe in God, who are religiously affiliated, who attend church or pray regularly have all declined — the steepest drops are among millennials. This hour, we explore how America’s religiosity is changing – who is pulling away from religion, who is still devout and why? Marty’s guests are GREGORY SMITH, associate director of research at Pew Research Center. He helps to coordinate the center’s domestic polling on religion, and STEPHEN PROTHERO, professor of religion at Boston University.
