A conversation with Philadelphia activist and restauranteur Judy Wicks
ListenGuest: Judy Wicks
JUDY WICKS founded the White Dog Cafe on the first floor of her house along a row of threatened brownstones in West Philadelphia. Over the years she grew what began as a small muffin shop into a 200-seat restaurant serving fresh local food while earning a reputation for her activism and commitment to her community, the environment, ethical business practices and building the local economy. Wicks has written a new memoir, Good Morning, Beautiful Business: The Unexpected Journey of an Activist Entrepreneur and Local Economy Pioneer. She joins Marty in the studio to talk about her life, her work, and her passions.
