Off leash: the culture of dog parks

Listen

Guests: Rebecca Braglio, Matthew Gilbert

Dog parks are popping up all over the country.  In the Philadelphia area, there are dozens of places where you can let your dog off leash to run and play with the other pooches.  But if you’ve ever been to a dog park, you’ve probably noticed that there’s a strange subculture that exists inside the fences. Today, an hour on the characters and culture of dog parks. We begin with a look at the parks in our region with REBECCA BRAGLIO, founder of ThePhillyDog.com blog.  Then, Boston Globe TV critic and first time dog owner MATTHEW GILBERT tells Marty about his introduction to park life while socializing his yellow lab puppy Toby.  He’s written a memoir about his adventures and observations on dog parks called Off the Leash.
