A 53-year-old Long Beach woman died yesterday following a car crash in Ship Bottom.

Lori Pelosi was traveling south on Barnegat Avenue in a 2008 PT Cruiser at approximately 3:40 p.m. when she failed to observe a red traffic signal at the Route 72 intersection, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman Al Della Fave said in a release.

That’s when Pelosi was struck on the driver’s side by a 2009 Ford F-350 pickup driven by Todd Parillo, 49, of Little Egg Harbor, who had a green signal, Della Fave added.

Pelosi, who was restrained, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin, where she was pronounced dead at 4:30 p.m, according to the spokesman.

Parillo was uninjured and refused medical attention at the scene, Della Fave said, adding that there were no other occupants in either vehicle.

Det. Michael Proto of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Fatal Accident Unit investigated and reconstructed the crash along with the Ship Bottom Police Department, Long Beach Police Department, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI.
