On Tuesday, Feb. 26, Philly Youth Radio Project (PYR) will present their program “At the Heart, From the Heart,” a series of audio-visual stories reflecting on love and relationships. WHYY, 150 N. 6th Street, in Philadlephia, will host the event from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Since last October, Philadelphia students Jaya Montague, Yingci Chen and Dien To have attended weekly audio production workshops where they learned how to pitch story ideas, conduct interviews, record and edit audio, write scripts and track narration.
Stories by Jaya Montague and Yingci Chen aired earlier this month on WHYY’s NewsWorks Tonight.
“At the Heart, From the Heart” marks PYR’s third season. The group was started by audio producer Yowei Shaw, who runs it with volunteers Beth Patel and Matthew Graber. WHYY partners with PYR to air student work, and WHYY staff members attend PYR workshops to assist with training and mentoring.
The showcase will include a panel discussion with the young radio reporters, as well as snacks. It is a youth-friendly event and all ages are welcome.
