What’s your local landmark?

In a city of half a million buildings, what’s your local landmark?

We all have places that matter to us. This month, PlanPhilly wants to hear about your favorite buildings in Philly.

We’re asking you to think beyond the obvious actual landmarks – we all love City Hall but this is a city of wonderfully diverse architecture. What buildings catch your eye or spark your imagination on your way to work? What buildings define your neighborhood? Do you appreciate something boldly modern or a place dripping with period detail? Does it tell a story about your community’s life or culture? Think rowhouses from the clean and contemporary to the historic and exuberant. Think of the fanciful milk bottle water tower or a roadside stand shaped like an ice cream cone. Think Frank Furness banks or workaday commercial buildings with killer neon. Tell us.

Whatever you fancy, share your #PHLandmark with us by snapping a picture of the building and sharing it with us via social media: Tag @planphilly on Instagram or tweet at us @planphilly and use the hashtag #PHLandmark. You can also go old school and email us at eots@planphilly.com. Be sure to tell us where your building of choice is (address appreciated) and what about it speaks to you. We’ll feature your responses on the PlanPhilly and share them via social media. Help us better understand the places that matter to you as we build build a collective portrait of the places that make Philly special.
