VP’s sister to receive award
Valerie Biden Owens, sister of Vice President Joe Biden recieves the Ministry of Caring’s Sister Ann Marguerite Gildea Award at a dinner tonight at the Chase Center in Wilmington.
Owens has volunteered at the ministry for over three decades. The award is also a fund raiser with those attending the dinner paying $250 a plate. Vice President Joe Biden’s office says he is planning to attend. Along with Owens MBNA founder Charles Cawley and his wife Julie will receive the award.
Brother Ronald Giannone, executive director of Ministry of Caring, says it wasn’t hard to come with a list of Owens’ accomplishments since she joined the board in 1982. The Ministry of Caring is a non-profit, organization serving disadvantaged people. It offers various means of helping including shelter, job training and placement.
