Vineland’s ‘Sandwich of the Year’ shares name with city’s mayor

The Romano Chicken Shooter proved victorious in Saturday’s Sandwich of the Year contest in Vineland.

Made with Romano cheese and broccoli rabe, the sandwich also happens to share a name with Mayor Robert Romano. It beat out a variety of other creations for the grand prize: a year-long sale at the Landis MarketPlace.
Following a successful Taste of Vineland event, organizers decided to celebrate sandwiches specifically, the Press of Atlantic City reports. The Romano Chicken Shooter scored well with judges who were looking for taste, creativity and originality.
