Top 5 stories to watch in NW Philly

1. Martin Luther King’s football squad is full of talent, including a handful of Division 1 prospects. The team’s season, however, has had a semi-rocky start. On Friday night, MLK squared off against Dobbins to try and reach .500 for the season. Check back next week to see how the team fared.

2. Dontae Angus is not your average high school football player. Four games into the season, the defensive end has already verbally committed to play for the University of Florida. For now though, the Martin Luther King High School standout is focused on winning the public league title and developing into the leader his coaches and teammates are looking for him to become. 3. In early April, residents gathered in Vernon Park for “Countdown to Germantown Day,” an event organized to gear up the community to celebrate the neighborhood’s 330th birthday.
