Top 4 stories to watch in NW Philly

Here’s a look at what’s to come this week:

1. The city’s public school calendar officially kicks off on Friday. NewsWorks reporters will fan out across Northwest Philadelphia to bring you stories from the area’s elementary, middle and high schools, including the annual bell-ringing ceremony at a newly moved school in Roxborough. Also, check in throughout the week. We’ll have stories on a Catholic school and a charter school entering its final year.

2. One of the city’s most notable private developers has recently purchased a small apartment complex on West Nippon Street in Mt. Airy. Andrew Eisenstein of Iron Stone Development will meet with residents to discuss his plans for the property during a Thursday night meeting of the Mt. Airy-Nippon-Bryan-Cresheim Town Watch. 3. Germantown-based photographer Gary Reed will be hosting a second Photo Walk event on Saturday following the success of the inaugural edition at the end of June. This time, participants will unleash their creative juices in Lower Germantown.

4. Saturday will also feature the second Dance on the Falls Bridge event. The iconic Philadelphia causeway between East Falls and West Philadelphia will be shut down for an evening of live music, refreshments and, of course, dancing.
