1. 2014 Parx Casino Philly Cycling Classic coverage
The annual bike race rolls through Manayunk, East Falls and along Kelly Drive on Sunday, but a full weekend of events surrounds its return. NewsWorks will be on hand for the race and related celebrations to bring you the full multimedia story on Monday.
2. It’s time for high-school graduations
High-school seniors will soon don caps and gowns and receive their diplomas. NewsWorks will be out covering the pomp and circumstance at several Northwest Philadelphia schools. Check back early next week for a schedule of graduations in the area and the start of coverage.
3. Manayunk Canal/boardwalk revamp meeting
Discussions about the revitalization of the Manayunk Canal boardwalk, which runs behind Manayunk’s Main Street business corridor, will continue this week. Under consideration in the redevelopment plan is adding additional recreational, entertainment and retail venues. The Manayunk Neighborhood Council meets Wednesday night. NewsWorks will cover the goings on.
4. Hearing on Green Lane development
The fate of the historic “Benjamin Kenworthy House,” a Victorian home located at 365 Green Lane in Roxborough, will be discussed at a Central Roxborough Civic Assocation meeting on June 5. The house, which was constructed in the 1870s, was bought last December by developer Todd Joseph who seeks approval to demolish the building and replace it with several townhouses. Joseph’s plans have been met by heated opposition. Check back next week for our coverage of this hearing.
