Sweeney, Christie at odds over last-minute budget cuts

Chris Christie’s administration is firing back at insults N.J. Senate Pres. Stephen Sweeney flung at the guv over the weekend.

Christie himself hasn’t responded to Sweeney’s calling him a “bully and a punk,” but his spokeswoman gave an official response today.

Sweeney took aim at the governor over the weekend, saying Christie’s last-minute budget vetoes were for political purposes and will hurt the state’s most vulnerable residents, according to a report on the Associated Press.

Spokeswoman Maria Cornella said today Sweeney’s remarks are “inappropriate and disrespectful,” and that Christie is still ready to work with him.
