Minor tidal flooding is likely along the Jersey Shore Sunday morning, forecasters say.
It’s due to the approaching full moon and a strong low-pressure system moving through the region, according to the National Weather Service.
Sunday’s high tide will occur along the oceanfront in the morning and along the back bays later.
Onshore flow will begin on Saturday, allowing water to build up along the coast, according to the forecast, but southerly winds Sunday morning will prevent significant floods.
Minor flooding typically renders vulnerable roadways impassable.
“Do not leave your vehicle at a location that is prone to tidal flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The water may be deeper than you think it is,” the National Weather Service warns. “You will be putting yourself in danger, and your vehicle may be damaged, leading to costly repairs.”
The likelihood of flooding will fade after Sunday morning.
Meanwhile, a fierce winter storm is expected to affect parts of North Jersey Sunday, while the Jersey Shore will experience rain.
