SugarHouse gets OK to expand table games

The state of Pennsylvania has sweetened the pot for SugarHouse Casino.

The Gaming Control Board has given the only gaming hall inside Philly city limits the go-ahead to increase its number of table games by 10, up to 53.

SugarHouse says in a news release that this will lead to 70 new jobs.

The existing table games include blackjack, roulette, craps and baccarat.

The additional tables will bring Texas Hold’em, the poker game popularized by ESPN’s broadcasts of the World Series of Poker, to the riverfront casino.

SugarHouse says it will manage to shoehorn in the new tables without having to eliminate a single one of the 1,602 slot machines that it offers.
