SRC to vote on closure of 9 schools, Sheppard and Stanton to stay open

Updated 6:50 p.m. — A marathon meeting of the School Reform Commission kicked off tonight at 5:30. The SRC will vote on the proposed closure of nine schools.

Already we know from Kristen Graham of the Inquirer and Philly.com that the SRC will not vote on closures of Sheppard and Stanton elementary schools, both of which will stay open.

More than 80 speakers are expected to give testimony. The Public School Notebook will be reporting from the meeting.

Earlier today, the Philadelphia School District released a spreadsheet of information about each of its recommendations. The district projects that closing all nine schools would save just over $8 million for next school year.
