Soapy money gets man on Customs’ watch list

Quite possibly one of the only things stranger than traveling with thousands of dollars in cash is traveling with multiple boxes of soap.

This apparently did not occur to the man trying to fly out of Philadelphia International Airport to Jamaica.

The man is now on the Customs and Border Protection list, the Associated Press reports, for his strange behavior. He old officials he was traveling with $3,000 cash, but a search revealed more than $11,000 stuffed in envelopes and boxes of Irish Spring soap. Travelers have to report amounts more than $10,000.

Though Customs officials didn’t suspect anything serious was at hand, the unidentified man landed himself on the list.
