Single-engine plane crashes off Atlantic City

    A single-engine plane reportedly crashed into the Atlantic Ocean about seven miles southeast of Atlantic City, according to federal authorities.

    In a statement, the Federal Aviation Administration says the Mooney M20 aircraft crashed around 2:45 p.m. today.

    The aircraft departed from Gaylord, Mich. and was headed to Atlantic City International Airport, according to the statement. 

    The agency did not provide additional details, including the condition of the occupant(s).

    The U.S. Coast Guard has deployed a helicopter and rescue boat.
