The storm is heading east at 25 miles per hour and is expected to be offshore shortly after 6:30 p.m.
The National Weather Service says that damaging winds, large hail, deadly lightning, and torrential rain are all possible.
People should head indoors and avoid driving through flooded roadways, the warning bulletin advises.
