Riley steps down as Convention Center chairman

#philadelphia – After four years as chairman of the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority, Thomas “Buck” Riley Jr. is stepping down. His May 15 resignation makes this his last week in the role.

Heard in the Hall reports Riley cites a busy schedule as the reason for his resignation, which he announced in an email today. Vice Chairman Carl Singley will serve as interim chairman, but Riley has advised the board to find a replacement quickly, given pressing labor negotiations and marketing issues.

Councilman Frank DiCicco’s seat will also soon be empty, as he’s retiring early next year, and Pa. Gov. Tom Corbett still must name two appointees, who could potentially squeeze out former Gov. Rendell’s appointees.
