Right NEast/Wrong NEast: Wissinoming gets overlooked again

Poor Wissinoming. When it’s not getting mistaken for Frankford, it may as well not even exist to the mainstream media.

When a store owner in Wissinoming fought off an armed robber last week, the media swept in with the cameras. They just weren’t sure where exactly they were sweeping in.

An early report from CBS3 said the store at 6017 Torresdale Ave. is in Tacony. This isn’t accurate, since the address is south of the Robbins Street border, but it’s closer than the Police Department’s description of Torresdale.

Curiously enough, a second report from CBS3 (after our report was published) said the store is in Wissinoming.

Could the reporters be reading?

Outside media don’t care about the Northeast. We have all seen them misuse, misspell and mistake our neighborhoods and our streets, so we at NEast Philly wanted to do something about it. When they get it wrong, we set it right in a segment we like to call Right NEast/Wrong NEast.
