Report calls for additional health clinic in the Northeast
The Northeast is home to just one of the city’s public health clinics: Health Care Center 10 at Cottman and Bustleton.
But a report from health-economics experts at the University of Pennsylvania says changing demographics in the 19111, 19120 and 19124 ZIP codes has created a gap. The report recommends adding a health care center somewhere around Lawncrest.
New adult patients must wait eight to nine months for an appointment at the Public Health Department’s Northeast center, according to the report. That’s the longest wait time in the city. An $80,000 federal planning grant has reportedly been approved, though that money has not come through yet to the city.
The report will be presented to the public at an Oct. 4 meeting at Friends Hospital at 5:30 p.m.
