Promising?

As the School District of Philadelphia continues its plan to revitalize and re-market six of its schools as “Promise Academies,” some wonder if the strategies is place will prove effective.

NewsWorks partner the Public School Notebook published an article today, which reveals District statistics that show nearly 75 percent of Promise Academy teachers are new (to the current school) and about 50 percent are first year (new to the School District).

While veteran District teachers assist the newcomers for the early part of the school year, none of the numbers show how effective the high percentage of new teachers (and their lessons from the vets) has been on students’ education.
