Poll: N.J. voters support minimum wage hike

A new poll finds New Jersey voters overwhelmingly support a ballot measure to raise the state’s minimum wage.

The Monmouth University/Asbury Park Press poll out Monday finds about two-thirds say they will vote for it and only 12 percent have decided to vote no.

A ballot question in November will ask whether voters they want to amend the state constitution to raise the wage from $7.25 to $8.25, and then incorporate automatic cost-of-living increases in the future.

Two-thirds of voters say they don’t agree with the argument that a wage increase would lead to the loss of many jobs.
