Search continues for escaped prisoner last seen in Barnegat Twp, NJ
38-year-old Arthur Buckel seen on surveillance video at a CVS in Barnegat Twp
Police in New Jersey say security footage has captured images of an inmate walking into a pharmacy yesterday in Barnegat Township after escaping from a state prison in Winslow.
In a Facebook post, the Barnegat Police Department identifies the man in the image taken Wednesday morning as 38-year-old Arthur Buckel. Corrections officials say the minimum security inmate was missing Tuesday when guards at Ancora Psychiatric Hospital in Winslow, performed a count Tuesday morning. The two towns are about 30 miles apart.
Buckel, whose last known address was in Clifton, had been serving a sentence for aggravated assault. He was scheduled to be paroled later this month.
Barnegat Township schools that were placed on lockdown Wednesday are set to resume classes Thursday morning.
Officers will be at each school if the search for Buckel isn’t over.
