Phoenixville Council to review stricter blight-prevention measure

An ordinance to toughen the borough’s blight prevention will move onto Phoenixville Council. Approval from a policy committee last night advanced a measure that would make it harder for property owners with violations to acquire more land.

 

Phoenixville Patch reports the borough would use the Neighborhood Blight Reclamation and Revitalization Act to deny permits to property owners whose existing properties create a public nuisance or are in violation of borough codes. Additionally, things like unpaid utility bills would prevent property owners from acquiring new permits.

The unanimous vote from the policy committee sends the ordinance to Council’s July 12 meeting.
