Pennypack Park concert series starts tonight

By Shannon McDonald

Even though it’s been cold and rainy all week, one sure sign Spring has arrived is the beginning of Pennypack Park’s music festival. Every other Wednesday through September, gather your friends and meet by the park’s stage (enter on Holmehurst Avenue off Rhawn Street) for free live music.

First up are the high school bands. Tonight, hear the All Catholic High School Band and the Frankford High School Band. The following week (the only consecutive weeks all season), catch Mike LeCompt.

Concerts start at 7 p.m. and generally end around 9:30 p.m. Bring your chairs, blankets, snacks and coolers, but leave the beer at home, as alcohol is prohobited by the Fairmount Park Commission. You can see the full list of events here, or check back with us for updates.
