WHERE: The Second Saturday Gardening Series will be held in the classroom at the Horticulture Center in West Fairmount Park, Belmont Avenue and Montgomery Drive, Philadelphia, PA 19131.

Registration and refreshments at 9 a.m.
Workshop from 9:30 a.m.–11:00 a.m.
Pre-registration requested, but not required.
Registration fee is $10.00

Andrew Penny, a PSU Philadelphia Master Gardener  and Horticultural manager at Bala Golf Club will present a “Top Picks” list of high impact bloomers in the primary the growing season and how to use bloom cycles to maintain color in your garden spring through fall.


August 14, 2010       How to PRESERVE the summer bounty.    

Lois Fischer a PSU Philadelphia Master Gardener, will teach you how to preserve jams, relishes, chutneys, pickles and other tasty items using the water bath canning method. Using your own garden supply or a bushel from a farmer’s market, begin filling your pantry, with delicious homemade treats that will evoke the essence of summer in the middle of winter

Details:  The Philadelphia Master Gardeners are members of a “volunteer corps” which supports the    programming efforts of Penn State Extension by utilizing research based information to educate the     public on best practices in consumer horticulture and environmental stewardship.
