Paul Ryan attracts a crowd campaigning in Harrisburg

The presidential election is just days away, and the Republican ticket is trying to drum up some last-minute support in Pennsylvania.

Vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan rallied voters at an airplane hangar at Harrisburg International Airport Saturday.

Wearing a red fleece jacket, Congressman Paul Ryan took the stage with fellow Republicans Governor Tom Corbett, U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey, and former Governor Tom Ridge.

He greeted the crowd of about 2,000 supporters, and then dove into his main topic of conversation: the economy under President Obama.

“The deficit ballooned. It’s more partisan than ever. We have a jobs crisis,” said Ryan. “Wouldn’t it be nice to actually have a job creator in the White House for a change?”

Ryan also accused the president of not doing enough to help people find jobs.

“We need to help these kinds of people who are slipping through the cracks get the skills they need to get the jobs they want for the 21st century to provide for their families to get back on their path to prosperity,” he said.

Ryan said the country can’t afford to spend money it doesn’t have, like it’s been doing for the past four years under Mr. Obama’s policies.

He also advocates for natural gas drilling in the Marcellus Shale region to help create jobs.

The latest statewide poll conducted by Franklin and Marshall College shows Mr. Obama leading the Romney/Ryan ticket by four points.

Mitt Romney is scheduled to campaign in Bucks County Sunday.
