Overnight blaze leaves one woman injured after second floor jump

    Firefighters were called to the 2500 block of South 71st Street in Southwest Philadelphia around 2:30 a.m. last night. When crews arrived on the scene they found flames shooting from the first floor of the residence.

     

     

    According to ABC6, firefighters went to work battling the flames and called in extra manpower as the fire spread through the homes upper floors.

    Officials say a woman in her late 20s was critically injured after jumping from a second floor window to avoid the smoke and flames.

    She was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where she was treated for smoke inhalation and injuries sustained in the jump.
