Outcome still unclear in suburban Philly legislative contest

Elections officials are still trying to figure out who won a state legislative race in the Philadelphia suburbs in which the challenger is clinging to a narrow, unofficial lead.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that attorneys for Democratic West Chester Mayor Carolyn Comitta and Republican state Rep. Dan Truitt were before the Chester County Elections Board on Tuesday, arguing about which provisional ballots should be counted.

The paper says Comitta currently has 18 more votes than Truitt, who had been up by about 80 votes on election night. Military and absentee ballots have since given the advantage to Comitta.

Truitt says he’s likely to seek a recount.
