The Limerick Nuclear Generating Station is listed as one of many East Coast nuclear plants requiring updates to their earthquake-proof infrastructure.
Limerick-Royersford-Spring City Patch reports the Nuclear Regulatory Commission recently released a report citing more than a dozen plants, including Limerick’s two reactors and the Peach Bottom complex near York, as plants that need improvements for seismic activity.
Patch reports Limerick’s spokesperson said the NRC’s recommendations do not indicate any “immediate safety concerns” with the plant, which last month experienced both an earthquake and Hurrican Irene.
