New Jersey residents will be able to comment at three public hearings next week on the state’s plans to spend more than $1.4 billion in Superstorm Sandy recovery aid.
The state is holding hearings Feb 11 at Stockton University in Galloway Township; Feb 12 at New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark; and on Feb 21 at Brookdale Community College in Middletown.
It wants to use roughly half the money for housing programs, including grants for homeowners to rebuild and developers to put up new apartment buildings.
About a third of the next round of money would go toward fixing vulnerabilities that Sandy exposed in the state’s transportation, energy and water infrastructure systems.
The state received $1.83 billion in storm aid last year.
