Neil Theobald named Temple University’s next president

Four days after being named the lone finalist in Temple University’s president search, Neil Theobald was approved yesterday to be the university’s 10th leader.

The Senior Vice President and CFO at Indiana University will assume the presidency Jan. 1.
“We really need to ramp up financial aid here,” Theobald said of his goals for Temple, and called fundraising one of his biggest jobs.

The president search began last fall when then-President Ann Weaver Hart announced her plans to leave. She stepped down in June to become president of the University of Arizona, and Provost Richard Englert is the acting president.
