Manayunk pet store hosts canine Howl-O-Ween party
Little devils, vampires and spiders haunted Main Street for Doggie Style’s first canine Howl-O-Ween party on Monday night.
Doggie Style is a specialty pet store with 12 locations throughout Philadelphia.
Store manager, Jessie Kuhns, said she came up with the idea to provide pet owners with a place that their pets could wear the costumes they sell.
“So many pet owners buy costumes, but they don’t have anywhere to take their pets so they can wear them,” Kuhns said.
Doggie Style has a wide selection of costumes ranging from fire-breathing dragons to costumes so good you could eat – such as the taco and hot dog costumes. They also sell outerwear clothing for pets among many other pet favorites.
During the party, the disguised canines were greeted with gourmet dog treats and were able to take photos in front of a spooky backdrop. The dog with the best costume will receive gift baskets filled with dog treats and toys.
Oliver, a dog up for adoption, was dressed as Count Dracula. He is a rescue from Operation Ava, a “no kill rescue, adoption and education center” that provides Doggie Style with the pets ready for adoption.
Doggie Style typically has one dog for adoption at a time and two cats at a time.
