Man found dead after nearly 12-hour SWAT standoff in West Deptford

Authorities in southern New Jersey say that a 24-year-old man was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot when a SWAT team entered the home after remaining outside for nearly 12 hours after hearing a gunshot.

West Deptford police said that a fugitive task force arrived at the home around 1:20 p.m. Monday to serve a warrant on William Schickel. Police said they then heard a gunshot come from the basement and retreated from the home.

The Gloucester County SWAT team was called to the scene and police remained outside until early Tuesday morning. Police said that a 24-year-old man was found dead inside around 1 a.m.
