Live wolf pack part of Philadelphia Outdoor Sportshow

Michael and Sharon Sandlofer, from South Carolina, bring their traveling wolf show to the Outdoor Sportshow at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pa., through February 17.

The first two wolves they got were refugees from Hurricane Katrina, said Michael. As word spread about their show, he and his wife took on more wolves from animal sanctuaries to offer the animals a good home and to share them with fair-goers and outdoor sports enthusiasts.

“You don’t really train a wolf,” said Sharon. “Where my work comes in is in finding things they like to do and then we hope that they’re going to do it when we ask them to, because they are very independent animals.”

Michael says people are attracted to the wolf in a mystical way and will travel from far and wide to see his animals. He considers the wolf to be “probably the most misunderstood animal on the planet Earth.”
