A little more time for City Council business

Philadelphia City Council has added another week to its pre-summer vacation calendar.

June 16 was to be council’s last meeting. But the Chief Clerk’s office confirmed that the last meeting is now slated for June 23.

The extra week was specifically added to give council members more time to pass the budget. But it is a regular week of council, and other business could be handled on June 23.  Committee meetings could be held that Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, but none are scheduled, the clerks office reported.

And if council gets the budget done on June 16, chances are good the extra week will be cancelled.
