Lawrence, N.J. car crash sends vehicle into a lake

Rescue crews are working to remove passengers from a car submerged in a lake in Central New Jersey.

Lt. Charles Edgar tells The Times of Trenton they are not sure how many people may have been inside a vehicle that was submerged in Colonial Lake in Lawrence Thursday afternoon after being involved in an accident with a dump truck.

Eyewitness Kathleen Meszaros of Trenton tells the newspaper she was waiting at the stoplight at Lake Drive and Route 1 when she heard a loud noise and saw a dump truck “flying” past her before veering in front of her car and into the water. Meszaros says she didn’t realize the car beside her at the light had been pushed into the water.

Further details were not immediately available.
