Moonlight Movies in Mt. Airy: The Wizard of Oz
Friday, June 29, 8:30pm. Lovett Library Park, 6945 Germantown Avenue. On Fridays until August 17, Mt. Airy USA, the Free Library, and Trolley Car Diner are presenting movies by moonlight. This week enjoy The Wizard of Oz. Start grabbing lawn space at 8pm; the movies will start at 8:30pm. In the case of poor weather, the movies will show in the Clivden Carriage House (6401 Germantown Ave.).
Germantown Photo Walk
Saturday, June 30, 9-11am. Meet up on the south side of Vernon Park near the Germantown Life Enrichment Center (5722 Greene Street) Meet up with photographers, urbanists, and neighbors to spend two hours photographing the people and places of Germantown. Participants will reconvene at 11am at Vernon Park to discuss their discoveries and make arrangements to upload their work to a website to showcase the images. Bring your own digital camera. The photo walk was organized by Gary Reed, a frequent Eyes on the Street Flickr Group contributor. Say hi to Gary if you go! Free
Clark Park Summer Solstice Festival
Saturday, June 30, Noon-8pm. Clark Park. Clark Park’s decades-old, twice-annual music and arts festival returns this weekend with live music, art vendors, and kids activities. The band lineup is Rock to the Future, The Best Westerns, City Wide Specials, The Really Cooks, Jampa, The Downtown Club, Break it Up, On the Water, Erode and Disappear, The Horrible Department, and Power Animal. Free.
Fireworks
Saturday, June 30. Concert at 8pm, Fireworks at 9:30pm. Penn’s Landing. The first of the Wawa Welcome America fireworks displays for 4th of July will be over the Delaware River on Saturday, preceded by a free Regina Carter and Gerald Veasley concert. The fireworks are coordinated to a soundtrack curated by Questlove. Yes.
