Huge street festival planned in Collingswood on Saturday
Collingswood’s May Fair returns on Saturday, May 23, 2015, kicking off Memorial Day weekend and the start of the summer season.
More than 200 artists and crafters will fill a mile stretch of Haddon Ave. for the borough’s biggest shindig, now in its 36th year. Last year’s attendance was estimated at 50,000.
Music is a big part of the fun with five stages of live entertainment ranging from rock, country, jazz, and acoustic acts. Cover bands will also get the crowds going with party favorites and tribute performances (Heart and Hendrix).
Hungry hoards can get their fill at the centrally located food court. Festival-goers can also snap up some Jersey-grown produce and flowers at the Collingswood Farmers Market. The market was recently named one of the nation’s best by Cooking Light Magazine.
Bring the youngsters to the KidZone (between Linden and Stiles Ave.) and let them work off that ice cream cone at interactive booths or on the carnival and pony rides. There will be kid-friendly crafters on hand, too.
A vintage auto and Harley-Davidson motorcycle show will display chrome and steel beauties of yesteryear between Knight and Zane Aves.
Portable toilets, including handicapped accessible facilities will be positioned at 10 locations through-out the fair. An information booth at Collins Ave. will have maps, as will the KidZone ticket booth.
Parking can be found in PATCO lots and on side streets. Please note: Haddon Ave. will be closed to traffic beginning at 6 a.m.
Well-behaved pets are welcome to join the festivities.
Saturday, May 23, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Haddon Ave., Collingswood, N.J.
