How the tri-state area stacks up against national unemployment rate for teens

The unemployment rate for America’s teenager is about 25 percent.

That number isn’t encouraging for those looking to land summer jobs, but locally, things are looking up.
CBS3 reports Pennsylvania’s teenage jobless rate is 16.5 percent. Delaware’s is 19 percent. The outlook isn’t as sunny in New Jersey. Teens in the Garden State are facing a 26 percent unemployment rate.

With so many people unemployed, gone are the days when a 16-year-old can walk into a pizza shop and leave with a job.
