Heat warning in effect throughout Delaware Valley

You don’t just think it’s especially hot today. It really is. Today will be a scorcher, and the National Weather Service has issued a heat warning in effect until 8 p.m.

Southeastern Pennsylvania, Northern Delaware and West Central New Jersey will all be feeling the sun’s beating rays today.

The most dangerous conditions are expected to hit in the late morning and early afternoon, so keep cool and if you can’t avoid the sun, at least remember the sunblock.

In response to the heat warning, the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging has announced it will continue to operate its Heatline today through 8 p.m. Yesterday’s Heatline kickoff was the earliest activation in the line’s history. Anyone who needs help or tips for dealing with the heat is encouraged to call 215-765-9040.

It’s a double whammy today: pollen levels are very high, so when you hit the drug store for the sunblock, stock up on your preferred allergy treatment, too.

Editor’s note: This post has been updated to reflect the new closing time of the Heatline.
