Hearing rescheduled for Mt. Airy meth ring defendants

Five individuals arrested in connection to a recent drug bust in West Mt. Airy will now appear in Philadelphia Municipal Court Sept. 21, according to court officials. This after today’s preliminary hearing was continued.

On June 23, Warren Layre, James McIntyre, Cecilia Silverwood, Brian Timer and Thomas Basara were arrested at 529-35 W. Sedgwick St. for allegedly participating in a crystal methamphetamine operation.

Police later seized more than $250,000 worth of crystal meth from a large two-bay garage at the address. Cash, steroids and a substantial amount of fireworks were also taken from the building.

The quintette was charged with possession with the intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance, a felony.
