Haddonfield to hold its first big event under new alcohol plan
The historically dry Haddonfield gets wet the first Saturday of the month with its inaugural Haddonfield Uncorked event.
Downtown boutiques, galleries and eateries will partner with 13 South Jersey wineries, offering tastings and food pairings together with shopping specials in time for Valentine’s Day. Shoppers will also be able to purchase wines from the participating vineyards by the bottle or case.
If your Valentine is something of a tightwad, lowering spending inhibitions with alcohol just might pay off.
The new marketing event was made possible by a recent alcohol management plan put forth by the Garden State Wine Growers Association. It permits retailers and restaurants to lease a part of their business to a local vineyard for sale of Jersey-produced bottled wines.
Kathy Gold, Marketing Chair of the Partnership for Haddonfield says the group spearheaded the sip and shop happening to mutually bolster South Jersey’s wine industry and the town’s economy. “It’s a really nice collaborative effort,” she remarked.
Haddonfield has banned the sale of alcohol since 1873. Since the initiative’s approval last September, three local restaurants have applied to exclusively partner with area wineries to sell wine by the bottle.
A list of participating retailers and wineries can be found here.
Saturday, Feb. 7, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. – Downtown Haddonfield, N.J.
